Fable Forge combines the depth of classic RPGs with the flexibility of AI-powered storytelling. It plays in a web browser on a desktop or laptop computer.
Most worlds offer Quick Start: pick one of its ready-made characters, give them a name, and you're playing - no rules screen and no character sheet to fill in first. Prefer to build your own? Beside the ready-made characters, a card takes you to the full character creator.
The rest of this page walks through the full journey, for when you want to shape everything yourself.
Fable Forge hosts multiple universes, each with its own setting, tone, and mechanical systems:
Every universe is built with consistent lore, balanced mechanics and curated content. Browse, explore, and find the world that calls to you.
Within each universe, you'll find Experiences - completely different stories set within the same established lore:
Each Experience is a standalone adventure, not just a variation. Think of them as different novels set in the same world.
Each Experience offers different Game Starts - unique entry points that shape your adventure from the very beginning:
Game Starts let you replay the same Experience with entirely different circumstances. A noble's heir and a street orphan will have very different adventures - even in the same world.
Build a character with real mechanical depth:
Your character is yours. Your build is your strategy. Your choices shape everything that follows.
Once your character is ready, you step into a living world:
Real dice settle skill checks; the AI narrates and judges how your choices land.
In worlds with combat, a conflict can become a fight or a brawl:
Combat isn't flavour text over a dice roll: the dice are real, and so are the consequences.
Your adventure doesn't reset:
Pick up where you left off. The world remembers.
When an action could go either way - picking a lock, persuading a merchant, striking an enemy - a Forge Roll decides it.
How it works: Roll a d100 (1-100), add your attribute modifier, and compare the total against the Difficulty Threshold (DT).
Your Roll (1-100) + Modifier = Total vs. Difficulty Threshold
Your modifier comes from your character's attributes - the stats and skills you chose during character creation. Higher attributes mean higher modifiers and better odds.
The Difficulty Threshold (DT) tells you how hard the task is:
| DT | Difficulty |
|---|---|
| 30 | Easy |
| 50 | Moderate |
| 60 | Hard |
| 70 | Very Hard |
Outcomes depend on how much your total beats or misses the DT:
| Outcome | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Forge Critical | Exceptional success - the best possible result |
| Success | Your action works as intended |
| Partial Success | Something happens, but with reduced effect |
| Failure | It doesn't work |
| Catastrophic | Something goes very wrong |
You can always preview your modifier, the difficulty, and your estimated success chance before committing to an action - so you're never rolling blind.
What makes Fable Forge unique is how AI enhances every element:
| Traditional RPG | Fable Forge |
|---|---|
| Pre-written dialogue | Dynamic conversations |
| Fixed descriptions | Responsive narration |
| Scripted outcomes | Real dice for skill checks, with the AI judging how your choices land |
| Static world | Living, reactive environment |
The mechanics are real. Real dice settle skill checks; the AI narrates and judges how your choices land.
